Marketing Issues: Natami Vs Retina Displaypage  1 2 3

I was watching a video on trying to figure out Apple's Retina Display.  Apparently the name has more to do with marketing because "Retina" doesn't have to do with a specific screen resolution and a laptop doesn't really need that much resolution on a screen.

The Macbook Pro is 2880 X 1800 / 15.4 =220 Pixels Per Inch

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Phone is 720 x 1280 / 4.7 = 316 PPI

iPad 3 is 2048 x 1536/9.7 = 264 PPI

The ppi is higher on a phone because it is smaller and a higher ppi makes it more discernable.

Why Should I Care About Apple's Retina Display?

EXTERNAL LINK
Does this issue matter and does it concern the Natami in marketing?

nothing as natami does not exist as a product and will never be.

Don't you see that "developers" completely abondoned that ship and are left that forum to laugh from all of you?

Wojtek,

Developing is about making money.  Is there a market and can I program for it?  If the answer is "yes" then I develop for it.  If the answer is "no" then the rest is immaturity.

Right. They made natami and then got better offer.
And you fools are still waiting.

Please describe the details of this better offer and what it consisted of. You have made claims like this and backed out when challenged several times. If you cannot provide anything more than FUD and insults it will be deleted from now on.

Please , discern opinions / speculations  from ... real facts . It is only counterproductive to assault all dear emotions associated to and with the project . Do not demotivate & disseminate false propaganda .

If you hold a certain believe , state it as such ... but do never put things into play that you can not prove & that others did not state . Disinformation of this kind is misleading visitors , sucks , and is lacking respect .

The Retina display is fine , imagery does benefit , gestures permit to amplify text content on websites easily ... it is a plus . true the display runs on 1900x1200 scaled down from the full size but you could even use a program to use its full capacity . Some programs like psd will adapt to its possibilities asap . I value its resolution and it is apple's best laptop . I am not an apple fan ... but credit where it is due and merited .
Good product , so far .

I'm thinking this would be good for medical applications, video editing and USB microscope amplification.

It is a rather pointless invention since the current technology suffice to trick our eyes.
More pixels per square inch are only good for one thing, complaints. ;) (the more pixels, the more of them could be dead)

I've only seen dead pixels on the Sony PSP and Nintendo Gameboy Advance and those are relatively small screens.

The more pixels, the less you will notice a dead one due to the size ;)

Real facts: nothing happens since half a year to natami.
Few people got developer boards and too... a silent.
Strange isn't it?

You getting told nothing is not the same as nothing happening. Now stop with your off-topic posts. This is a thread about Mac displays, not your conspiracy theories.

Name one person on the Natami team that could replace Thomas.  The answer is none.  Name one person in the Amiga community that could have done what Thomas did.  There is none or otherwise they would have done it.  It isn't strange.  People have financial needs.  We all need to eat and pay our bills.  Natami isn't paying anyone's bills.  There are some SID projects being sold on the net and I'm told by other engineers the makers of those projects aren't making much money off of them and certainly not enough to live off of.

apples's high rest displays allow very crisp text- its very ergonomic for reading.
sure, it is a "luxury item" maybe, hardly essential - but , for example , you have more flexibility in deciding what size fonts can be instead of having to base it on pixel snapping.
for most purposes 1920x1080 is best for a 15" laptop i think.
apple have a lot of fluff but do some good things.. going back to windows/linux I really miss their multitouch gesture trackpad now.. i feel like someone cut a finger off.

i loved using 'expose'/'spaces' (i use the 'expo' feature on linux that emulates it), and soon 'mission control' will be fixed (expose with desktop thumbnails too)
being able to zoom out and still read the small print is awesome, and it will work so much better with retina

True and that's a problem, as he turned out to be joking from us.

If he would be serious he would post about facts that there will be delay.

Sounds like some jobs I've been on.  I went to work and no one told me anything and issues arive and I don't know how the boss wants it handled.

People call out and or I have to work myself.  The boss does micro management which everyone hates.  We have all the responsibility but no authority.

How did the company I work with survive on its own for 30 years and making 12 million a year?

Just a trick to make employees effectively do everything and boss nothing.

That is an assumption.  Announce news that you aren't ready?  How many times over the last six years would he have to announce it?  Announcing it over and over the last six years that you aren't ready would give me "pause" because there is something wrong if you have to announce it instead of not say anything.

Announcing that you aren't ready is what you want to hear?  The silence doesn't already speak volumes to you?

Announcing that you aren't ready makes the team look better, right?  It doesn't.  It doesn't do anything other than possibly make you look bad.
