I measured this with my NAe60R. I don't have the exact measurements, but it uses a quite small heatsink with no active cooling.
  90MHz idle  47C
  90MHz load  54C

Thanks.
How is this possible? The Rev. 6 68060 is not so hot like the Rev. 5 but i get already higher Temperatures at 66 MHZ than you at 90MHZ.
Is the physical load on Amiga Hardware so much higher?
Similar like 74LS needs more drive power than 74FCT?

The equipment I used was not very professional (digital food thermometer) but each test ran for about 30 mins and that was the highest temps I got. But I guess you can add a few degrees to the result because the sensor was not ideal for the task (a bit too big). But the diffs are still interesting.

That shouldn't matter too much if you just measured in the right location in a enclosed case.
I have a Fluke which could be used for measuring and even exporting the measurements to the PC so I could make a nice graph.
Anyhow measuring in a open case doesn't tell us that much as measuring it in a enclosed casing.(Airflow, and temperature displacement)

But this is off-topic.

From what I have read recently on one of the Amiga forum sites, the different Mask revisions of the 68060 made a HUGE difference in the amount of heat they produce, so your findings that earlier revision Masks of the 68060 are much hotter is not surprising to me.

Its right, but i compare the newest Mask in a real Amiga with the newest Mask in a Natami. And i think about how the Natami can have a lower temprature with the same Processor.

The other chips on the amiga probably are heating the PCB.

Also, airflow inside the case will be different.

There's a lot of variables.

Dunno why this thread has become a thermometer discussion.

Btw, progress dudes? Remember we are eager to know.

There has been no internal chipset update since Jan 31st, if that is what you are wondering.

Though I also miss his posts in the public area...

No he did not, it was just an old thread of his getting bumped by another person.
Gunnar has been inactive since summer last year.

I was only joking, sorry.

I just saw another thread asking for progress.

Thank you, btw.

There is no problem. But people are working on this project in their spare time. So there are no hard feelings if people feel they need to give bigger priority to other things in life.

Oh, that's ok, of course :)
I was afraid he has left the project, but sure, there are more important things in life.
Anyway, whenever he has some free time again, we would love to hear from him :)

Gunnar has been one of the greatest motivators to this project. He made us discuss things and brought "life" to this forum and other Amiga forums as well. We could disagree in things he said but he always seemed to have a great understanding what this project is all about. What I find a bit strange is that he left so suddenly, especially since he's been one of the strong voices in here. I hope he hasn't lost his interest in the project completely. Let's hope he'll return soon.

I also hope that his inactivity doesn't slow the project down. Even though Gunnar spent a lot of time posting in forums, I suppose he also did some important work behind the scenes: What happened to the audio format he created? What about his work on the 3D Core/SAGA/68050 Core? What about his Natami shoot'em up game(s) and demos?

What happened to all the ideas that's been discussed over the years? Have all this information been taken care of? In respect for all those who contributed, I hope something came out of it.

The Natami Team section of this WEB site hasn't been updated for ages. This should be done ASAP. Who does what? Who has been active lately? How many members are there and what is their profession?

In another thread André said the Team needs more skilled people to help out with the project. Chuck asked "What does the Team need help with?". I think that's a simple but important question that should be discussed carefully.

First of all you should try to figure out what kind of people you are looking for. Next step is to ADVERTISE for these people at various Amiga forums. It's not enough to advertise once. Do it over and over again until you succeed. To believe that the right persons show up out of nowhere like bees to a honey pot, is like believing in Santa Claus. It just does not work that way. It is you who must take the initiative to talk to people, not vice versa. ;)

Please do not take this as criticism. I just want this project to succeed, you know. :)

Cheers

I wish I could answer Joe M in a good way, but at least I can confirm that Deep Sub Micron is active, has even been known to appear on IRC, and has been in the same house as Thomas in recent memory, discussing 68050 integration.

@Joe M

One of the "bad-Amiga-Gossip" sites touches some of your questions.

I will not link to the threads, since the mentioned site has (for good reason) a bad reputation.

With a little bit og googling, you'll find it and can judge for yourself.

Gunnar was very good at creating very high expectations and goals of the system and very optimistic time frames. Which in turn put extreme pressure on Thomas who does most of the work with the hardware. So in a way Gunnars absence instead might have speeded the project up by letting us focus more on important basic functionality which must be there for any other features to even make sense.

The audio format is still there. His and others work on the 3D core remains as a prototype for designing the 3D hardware.
The shoot em up exists as a SDL game engine. As an arcade shoot em up fan I was very interested in it at first, but started to lose interest when it moved from 60 fps rendering to 30 fps for the reason of fitting in more eye candy.
