Sometimes this happens we have a slow day or a slow week in this forum but i wonder not all have been the silence before the storm but perhaps this one is.

It is not silent at all on the Team side though, full of hot debates as the MX board is already here!

The Natami-storm is getting close and will hit the Amiga world with its full force! So better get ready for this!

Me too, but I guess we'll see it within weeks when the MX Board finishing-thread opens.

Maybe slow days here, but at the ppa.pl we got over 400 comments under the latest Natami post. Classic users are pro, and some , mainly AOS 4.x believers are against. Harsh discussion.

YES!

NatAmi and AMOS Professional.... WHAT A COMBO!!!!

The "average user" will be empowered like NEVER BEFORE!

I honestly think that NatAmi will really deliver BIG TIME in ways that we just can't imagine!!!!!!

Nearly Playstaion 2 power but simplicity of use through to the core!

Final Fantasy 7 and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on PS1 were astounding, imagine what we'll be able to do now!

i don't know how PS2 is programmed but AFAIK you generally don't directly call hardware registers and use graphics libraries.
This make it slower compared to what it could be.
Assuming Natami graphics performance == PS2, you can make better things.

Hi Thierry,

I know you realy love AMOS Professional. And I know it is a good package. My brother used it a lot. The sad part is that the sources are no longer available. So it will be very hard to take advantage of Natami's added strengths. My brother moved on to Blitz and AmiBlitz is still being maintained.
When you gather the knowledge of AmiBlitz, You Mr. Thierry Atheist can be added to the notorious list of Natami developers! Now there will be no prozak beating that feeling!

Slow week indeed, but more due to the wait being "almost" over :)

I Immortal, here Theirry actually has a valid point as Mattathias Basic is a reimplementation of AMOS (on a basic level, it seems to be more ambitious than that in reality). It's not in a finished state, but maybe in time it could support Natami features. Looks like there's a call out for more developers to help with the project:

Well, whenever things seem "slow" I turn to putting aside just a bit more money. That's always a good thing to do :)

Anyway i wouldn't care about powerPC based PC computer's users what doesn't have anything in common in hardware with amiga at all.

If this is what they want, the x86 port of AOS will be the greatest achievement. cheaper hardware, roughly the same result.

Mattathias was so ambitious that we broke it into two projects internally.  One object oriented programming language and the other an Amos compatible language.  Since regular AmosPro will work on the NatAmi, it's not a high priority.  Also since the object-oriented language will not be Amos compatible, I turned some of my notes over to Chris Handley for use in his PortablE language.  This means that the second project is not really part of Mattathias any more.

The remaining Amos compatibile language will require that LLVM will be ported to AROS.  That is my current big project as I've already accepted the bounty to get LLVM to generate AROS x86 software.  This means that all of the Mattathias project is on the back-burner until we can get something to work well on all supported platforms.  Also, once LLVM has been ported to all flavors of AROS and any other Amiga-like OSs, we can look into using Google's PNaCl backend for LLVM as the basis for any cross-platform development.  This still might not be the original vision of Mattathias but will be something useful.

Hi Samuel D Crow,

I commend you for the overwhelming task you are pursuing.

You can clearly see that C is one wretched awful stinker of a language to code in, right? I mean, just how hard is it to translate

print "Hello"

into something that works in C?

EVEN C doesn't force you to pick a resolution, screen position, and background and foreground colours BEFORE it's able to display that!!, but seems to think that 4 other sentences MUST accompany it for it to be seen!!!

I don't have time to think about that MOST TIMES a semi-colon is needed at the end of a statement, but sometimes it ISN'T!!!!

In AMOS (and most BASICs) a full colon is ONLY used to separate more than one command on a line, and if there isn't anymore, just don't use it..... UNIVERSAL RULE!!!

And most are in BASIC.

But C is super twisted. When I want to use a new variable, I do not want to scroll to the top and declare that being my intention, I need it now, want to use it now.

BASIC is easy to use, and I've seen some BlitzBASIC code, and that seems twisted up too.

Found some:

Framework brl.StandardIO
Import brl.blitz
For Local t%=1 To 3200000
Local x$=qif_new(t Mod 2, "odd","evn")
If p Return a
st\noFields=st\noFields+1
Return Asc(Mid(s,1,1)) Or (Asc(Mid(s,2,1)) Shl 8) Or (Asc(Mid(s,3,1)) Shl 16) Or (Asc(Mid(s,4,1)) Shl 24)
dy:*tgap/d

None of that is "normal".

well at least you can do a inline declaration in C, it's just more work then simply adding it up top.(Or was this C++, it's kinda fuzzy to me since i learned C++ first!)
