Would anyone be interested in an official software and media distribution portal for Natami - similar to the way that Apple have iTunes to distribute media and software for Mac and iPhone? I have been developing a system that can be used for this and can get an initial version running in a few weeks. Let me know your thoughts.

Well, I think Aminet is sufficient for now... Unless someone is going to release a bunch of new software or create dozens of media files each week :)

Well, maybe some auto-updating feature could be useful. But it is a lot of work to do it properly.

Was thinking more about a commercial software portal - it's all very good having freeware software available, but if the platform is going to attract professional software developers, then it also needs a place that software developers can sell their software, otherwise they will concentrate their effort on platforms that they know their software is more likely to earn them enough to at least break even on their time and cash investment to complete their software.

@Roman S

  Automatic updating is already supported by Amikit.  See EXTERNAL LINK for details.

People can share your enthusiasm or not, but one thing is true - when we ever gonna look for a professional marketing specialist, you gonna be the man! :D

Go for it Leon.  An Amiga Online Software Shop like that has been a much need dream for a while.

Please add, if you can over time support for;
1) Abandoned / I mean classic software downloads - with royalties paid;
2) NatAmi Software - with royalties paid;
3) MiniMig Software - with royalties paid;
4) OS4 Software - with royalties paid;
5) MorphOS Software - with royalties paid;
6) AROS Software - with royalties paid;
7) Other Amiga Software - with royalties paid;

Hi All,

  Thinking about aminet, a whole bunch of that stuff is either redundant or old. Lets face it there is only x amount of room on the Amikit set. How about a list or links to stuff that actually are the the best and latest for OS3+ and would work well for this kit.

Had this concept been thought of and available much earlier the guy who wrote WHDLoad would have been a rich guy selling it at even $2 a pop.

There are probably a few useful apps that would have made some people a little bit of money had amiStore been around.

What other little apps would have made their authors some deserving money for their usefulness?

Amiga has _hundreds_ of little do-dads, and they ARE little _and_ useful, unlike the hundreds and HUNDREDS of DLLs that micro-soft has, that are (doggy)doo-duds. Know what's really fun? _installing_ those D.doo-duds.

Keep the ideas coming. What websites do people have for buying Amiga software? Are there any websites dedicated to pushing forward commercial software development on Amiga?

What about these? Small, fast and useful (at least for me).

That second one made me think, is there a program that can do a string search in filenotes??? And through subdirctories to other files' filenotes?

www.amigasoftware.com is now registered. Let me know what types of features any of you developers would like to see in an app marketplace.

I can't actually remember if it can search through subdirectories to find other files' filenotes. I have to try this myself, but it is very flexible AFAIK. What it CAN do however, is to search for strings in filenotes and replace those strings with another one. You can also make your filenotes UPPERCASE, lowercase + a lot more.

There are other programs available that can do the same job. SRename is probably most known, but JustName and JustComm are way faster since they're written and optimized in assembler. The author is an old friend of mine, and after all these years he is finally about to release new versions of his programs. If you guys have wishes or ideas for smart features that could be implemented (which are not already there), so talk... :-)

I love this idea !

  Amiga software sites are so old and boring.

  I would like:

  Product listing, short and long description
  star ratings and comments and reviews
  Pictures and screenshots that are big enough to see properly.
  search / sort bye AGA / SAGA / date / author / price
  Upload section
  One click buy (Paypal / Worldpay)

  something like: smartcode.com

Come to think of it there is a problem getting software. Lets just use Hyperion for example. You may find "Heretic II" at one place and have to go somewhere else for "Freespace", Then try and find Shogo.

Then on the other hand try and find "Pagestream".

A nice one stop shop would be nice, kind of an Amiga Software Super Store.

Hi there, I don't want to spoil your fun but isn't this all a little soon? When is a final consumer Natami coming? Great ideas though!
