A thing who could be cool will be like in a remake of "maze of galious" (an old msx game), where you can choose between original sound and graphics or new ones.

  EXTERNAL LINK

And maybe the source code of some other shoot them up could be obtain, like xenon 1 & 2 or project X (team 17 already gived some sources code before like alien breed 3d II)

Yes - there are certainly many cool games which would be nice to remake.

Image playing "Hybris" in High-Resolution and in 24bit-color, Awesome!

Maybe you could even get Mr. Martin Pedersen on the team if you ask nicely? :)

Sorry, i mean, in "maze of galious" remake you can choose between several graphics and music sets. And i wonder if in a "Hybris" remake (and battle squadron too), it will be possible to include original sounds and graphics as well. New High-Resolution and in 24bit-color graphics and original ones.

Why would you want to include the old ones?
If you want to run the old game - well then you can just run it, right?

True, why make things simple when you can complicate them :-D

Golgoth 27,

The your suggestion and the "re-skinnig" ability of the game you mentioned is strongly related to a suggestion I'll be making shortly to the Natami community.  I jst need time to write my proposal... keep an eye out. I think you'll find it interresting.

Thanks for the consistantly good suggestions and support for Natami. :)

I would like to recreate the GFX for the game in higher resolution. E.g 640x480
My current idea is to pre-render the sprites with a 3D tool - with some cartoonish style filter - so that the game looks a bit nice and friendly or comic stylish.

One way to do the 3D effect would be to use a filter like the old CandyFactory (by Milan Polle), which I believe was similar to AlienSkin.  You'd have to break the sprites into parts, such as L and R wings and the fuselage, then use the filter to "threedeeify" them.  Then you'd line up the new pseudo-3D shapes with the original sprites and use a multiply mask to transfer the 3D effect to the sprite.  I had an inkling of this technique back in the day, but didn't then know about multiply masks (or didn't have a tool to perform them) and therefore never actually got it to work back then.

I wonder if Milan Polle has done anything cool since then, Google only returns Amiga related pages from 9 years ago...

Hello Michael, do you know "R-Type Dimensions" ? You can switch between old 2D and new 3D graphics on the fly. Was that what you were thinking of?

  Martin's contact info can be found here: INGEN_SPAMMartinBastianPedersen (A T) gmail  (D O T) comINGEN_SPAM  (re-move the word INGEN_SPAM).

I don't think you can get him to join the team - he hasn't been coding for a long time on amiga (has only A2000 without HD) - but maybe someone from the Natami team could talkt him into something.

@Michael v. Parent

It's off topic, but some guys on "amiga impact" are wondering about the  68050

  topic here
  EXTERNAL LINK

As i'm not into hardware at all, and i can't explain them about 68050 and 070, maybe you're more designated (as a Natami team member and as french ;-) ) to answer their questions (i don't want to say something wrong, out of date or misunderstood).

And it's always good to make people aware of the Natami and it's progresses.

(this message can be deleted after being seen by Michael. Sorry to disturb the topic)

@Golgoth 27

Tell them they are just confusing actual Motorola chips with the softcore project names.
I think its a pretty bad choice of name, actually, when confusion could have been avoided simply by choosing something that doesn't already exist.

I'm just an artist and my french abilities are similar to that of a native 2 year old. :(  This would require An actual Natami hardware guy.

Ok, i will give them a few links too.

They also think there will be no 68070, that it is replaced by the 68050 because the 070 was too ambitious.

Asking here is the better way, but you know how people are ;-)  If they can say anything from their side. And that's how rumours start...

This is not how it is.
Our plan always was a new 68K better than the 68060. => Codename N070
We figured that it makes sense to first create a milestone which is not super scalar as this is a little easier and still very usefull. => Codename 68050.

The 070 is not given up yet.
The took great care to design 050 in such a ways that more pipelines can be added to it.

Hey Gunnar,
After poking around, I found a 256MB Radeon 9250 for my MorphOS machine.
Are you still considering ports to other Amiga-like OS'?

It's embarrasing that efika graphics boards have more ram nowadays than the actual machine. someone NEEDS to hack a way to use that ram for programs. Or else the OWB developers could be kind and implement a swap file, but I digress.
