Hi Everyone out there. The FACTS: We can ask for anything, we probably won't get 99% of it. We can leave. We can be quiet. We can complain. However, it will cost whatever it costs, it will be whatever it turns out to be, they can not do anything more about it than the budget they have to work with. What they think they can achieve is excellent and I will not be unhappy to own one. I prefer more but who doesn't? It's not slow because it's Amiga, through and through. :-)

No, the cost is the best reason for YOU to wait. If someone who is not a developer wants a developer board (to be an early adopter or to keep the FPGA programmability for some unknown reason) and is prepared to pay the cash to get one, then they should get one, simple as that.

But... Let's think rationally about this. It could be a little counterproductive for the project to have many of these boards, which will come in very limited quantities, in the hands of people that cannot make a significant contribution, regardless of their ardent desire to participate. If anyone loves the idea behind Natami, we should do our best to ensure the best success for this developer program. And if that means that each and every one of these developer boards should be in really productive hands, then the best move is to wait and let the people with talent have the tools to do their jobs. I know my limitations and I won't get any until a consumer board is ready. Some people cannot wait and will buy it just for fetishism. That's pretty clear and in fact, I'm not against it, but I hope it happens with a minority of the boards.

You seem to believe there will be a limited number of dev boards made. Every interested developer will surely get their chance to own a dev board, but whom does it hurt if some eager non-developers get one too? Nobody. In fact even if these people can't code they can still test/provide bug reports, so the boards could still be useful. Of course it makes sense for most to wait for the consumer version but don't knock those who wish to be different and get a Natami early.

Yep, I guess that was a wrong assumption then. Sorry, I lack the proper information on figures. In which quantities will come the first run?

Whomever has the cash for one will get one. I'm not on the Natami team, this is just common sense.

Hi Francisco,I believe that they'll make as many as there is interest in being bought. My guess is in the 30 to 50 range. Frankly, to me, if only 10 are made, as long as I can get one, mission accomplished. I hope many more are gotten, as well as a second large run. To me, I can see HUGE numbers sold. Here's the thing, if you get one of the first ones, you can show people where you live how GREAT it is. Where I live, there are at least 15 people that would want to see it (I'm certain I can dig up at least 7 more), and 8 that would buy it, if it's as capable as is envisioned. It's NEW hardware, and much, much, much faster and also, old used HW is very expensive and reliability is unknown. NatAmi has everything going for it. NatAmi is an opportunity to go "I told you so".
