Maybe the OP means as some kind of image filter like the quincunx variant used in early nVidia GeForce cards. Earlier I wrote (in another thread) that there existed filtering solutions that would be relatively inexpensive to implement but would improve the graphics quality noticeably, this thread reminded me to search for the relevant paper: EXTERNAL LINK
