| The second batch of the CPU cards arrived and I took a little time to assemble them. The FPGA logic is far from complete but I had the time to build a simple address decoder. So the processor has a little bit RAM and ROM and a serial port. And - surprisingly - it just started running my old Serial Monitor code written for the 030 prototype PCI card. It doesn't do very much but the MC68060 responds to key sent through the serial port. It reads and writes memory and can download/execute other code. It really seems that (at least for now) there are no major problems with the CPU card schematics and layout. Flash memory, interrupts and SynchronZorro are not tested yet. But the CPU itself is running! See pictures in Hardware section

| that is a step futher. too bad logic analyzers cost so much. :(

| This is great progress! I remember someone writing that it wasn't a real board until there were chips on it (and thus Natami was fake/vapourware). Well, that will shut up even the low-brows for a while :D

| Those pics just made my day. BTW can somebody clarify this, will the fpga for the 050 be provided in a similar way or will it be directly on the board

| the 050 will be a softcore making the 060 CPU board obselete hopefully. softcore maining that it runs in the FPGA and that is onboard yes.

So what will this CPU slot be used for after the 060 is rendered obsolete? Would any applications be made to harness this possible dual processor situation?

Not so fast :-) The Natami CPU Card sport a high clock 68060, together with ultra fast memory. The 68050 will a nice alternative for a SOC_Natami. And the 050 might sometime be as fast or faster than a cliassic 68060. But the Natami-060 is A LOT faster than any classic 060-cards - the 050 might not be able to catch the performance of the Natami-060-card.

| true but this has to do with a scalar/pipelined design against a pipelined design. and Sandra you can't take things i say literaly or atleast shouldn't. And i should be more political correct (hence the hopefully).

| nice :) at how much MHZ this card are running? i see a XC Rev.5 , about 66 MHZ only with cooling..

| I only tried with 50MHz. Now. And even without any cooling the CPU doesn't get warm at all.The board should be able to run with 100MHz.
