Sure, pay Thomas a full time salary to work on NATAMI and nothing else. :)

| @Louis Dias Ok. As I don't have the money to do that, I will work on other projects. I am really sorry, not paying Thomas a full time salary. But this is really sad and makes me feel bad. I only wanted to help. I may not be a coder and not a millionaire, but I can do a lot of other things...

| @Birbo 79 I think that the work on the project has come to stop at one point. (at the moment) I have no insight into the project but in the team section has been about a week any more moving, there were times when it was clearly different. Also still no team member has responded to your request, is a showing sign.

| Well the latest post at this time on the TEAM-section is from "07 May 11:08"... Maybe the work is done in some deep caverns with no distracting means to communicate with the outside world ;D Positive thinking in effect!

| Dear fans of Natami! Sorry for the long silence. After discussing important matters on the team, we hereby announce the need to reorganize the project. Due to unreasonably high expectations on the team side regarding time frames and foremost forgetting about Thomas' original intentions for what Natami is supposed to be, Thomas has decided to seclude himself as of now and to peacefully finish what he has begun, without having to follow unrealistic time frames and expectations. We as a team feel that all you strong Natami followers deserve a better treatment than being confronted with a wall of silence, while eagerly awaiting news and progress. Natami is going to be finished, yet not necessarily under that exact name (for reasons not to be debated). What name it will be, is Thomas' choice. So, if you don't mind a Natami-like machine being officially available at some (as of now yet uncertain) point in time and want to stick with it anyways, you're very welcome. Should you think that other projects seem more wortwhile in the light of things, please follow your wishes. That kind of fairness and openness is the least we have to treat our strong Natami fans with. Best regards to all you great supporters Team Natami --------------- P.S.: Ville, you got that right ;)

| Oh, well, always look on the bright side... Guess, it gives me some time to rewrite the 680x0 backend of my compiler then... :/

What does this mean to this site? Any consequences? Impact?

| @Comp Arch It all just means a different state of handling goals and expectations (not burdening Thomas as much as has happened in the past). And you having a bit more time for a rewrite is a good thing, isn't it? ;)Concerning a *possibly* different naming, there won't be any consequences or impacts. The development goes on as usual. And I hope you're not interested in Natami just because of that special name ;) . Thanks for letting us know.

That's the least we can do for all you great guys.

| Nothing changes - except there now is no need to speculate as to what happened to development and why activity stalled on the team side of the forum. Thomas has decided to complete "Natami" according to his own, original specifications, instead of trying to accommodate all kinds of ambitious wishes going in different directions.

May I ask what his "original specifications" are compared to what's been discussed here the past years? What will be included and what will be left out?

You guys never stop surprising us. ;) The great NATAMI name has been stuck to our retinas for years and suddenly it just vanishes in front of our eyes. :( That pill is going to take a while to swallow I guess, but on the other hand, I look forward to hear Thomas' new name of choice.

| Joe, as for specs, I don't want to start this new chapter by doing the wrong thing again and speak for Thomas. But I would suspect "high speed memory Amiga" more than "experimental platform with all computer features ever invented between 1980 and now stuffed into it". (I see no reason to believe the physical board will be any less capable or expandable than it is already. I.e. I would be surprised if Ethernet, PCI or USB disappeared.)

Sounds like a good idea but I still think many people here (myself included) is a little curious about Thomas' intentions for what the Natami is supposed be. Has his plans changed since this was written?CLICK HERE Claudio Wieland wrote:

I won't leave the train. I still want a "Natami". Good luck to Thomas and all others involved.

That's precisely what I meant: I always thought that he was going to complete "Natami" accordings to his own, original specifications. And following his own personal schedule. I haven't really seen him take part in discussions about what he should implement and what not. Of course, people have ideas and wishes. Do you know the Blues Brother? "Uh, this list doesn't mean anything. They're just requests."

Oh, don't worry. You can name it 'Slartibartfast' if you like. Or 'Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel'. I don't mind as long as you keep us informed about any name change or rearrangement of this site. Nixus Minimax wrote:

Imagine your manager all of a sudden tells you there is 'the need to reorganize the project' .. What do you think? Joe M wrote:

Which are.. what? Just to avoid misunderstanding: I, too, am willing to wait longer. No probs. But what precisely is it I'm waiting for..? Joe M wrote:

| To clarify.Thomas is working on natami on his own this I understand. But what about the rest of team natami? Are you jakob- and the others still working on the natami too? I hope so. Or will thomas perhaps delegate various tasks to ye to do.What kind of re-organisation has happened? It might be a good idea to make a small news/blog update for those that don't read this thread to avoid confusion and questions etc.Just curious here.Im still happy to wait for the amiga with no name!

| I have been visiting this site for over 2 years now having never posted anything, just silently monitoring the progress of the project but this latest news has stung me into posting. Basically I think this latest news is a complete joke and is one big up yours to everyone who has visited and contributed to this site over the years. Ooohhhh Tomas is busy, he has a full time job...well so has everyone else. Nobody asked Tomas to put himself out there by creating the natami web site and forums and such like. Nobody created the expectation apart from the natami team. If the team don't want to keep answering progress questions just provide a realistic estimate! We're all in IT, we've all provided estimates. If its 5 years, then fine it's 5 years but at least we all wouldn't be logging on every day waiting to see if today will be the day we see something. And remember the ONLY reason were all desperate for progress is because we're excited! And we love our Amiga just as much as tomas and the rest of the team does.
