NATAMI MX Day #1page  1 2

Hi my name is Annika,

I'm the head of our Natami-IT and Testing-Department.

This Easter we got a new piece of computing device
to replace our old and outdated Windows 7 and Intel-CPU IT-infrastructure.

Please join me for the next days, on an exciting journey testing the new hardware and exploring new computing concepts .

Today we will focus on a totally new idea in the IT field.
Its called "plug-and-play"

Here you can see the NATAMI MX Board.
As you can see it its rather small.
The board is actually smaller than the CD Drive.

We have plugged the NATAMI together with existing
devices like mouse, keyboard, monitor, harddrive and CD-Rom

The NATAMI MX comes with IDE-Ports.
My dad told me that these IDE connectors allow you to plugin in any existing AMIGA IDE drive and so you can use it without the need to install it.

Does this sound easy?

Yes, and actually this is easy, all you need to do is to go down into the basement and pull one of those metal boxes out of one of the old computers that your dad is collecting there.

As you can see the NATAMI will recognize the hard drive immediately.

If you are in the basement you can also pull out of of those smaller drives called "floppy drives".
The NATAMI can use any floppy drive (AMIGA or PC) and can use it to read and write AMIGA floppies.

Now this was easy.
And after I've installed a nice backdrop image of a favourite fairy, we have a system ready to play!

More to come tomorrow

Please lay out pictures in high resolution.
For example, as additional links.

I am pleased to be joined to the test. If there was an opportunity to buy.

I would love to see a video!

Also a close-up photo of Workbench could reveal how much memory do we have on this amazing board:D

It smells retirement home for me if so young and smart people take the lead :-)

Thanks for the update, hope to have a regular diary of our head of Natami-IT and Testing-Department.

There is the FE(EC in Plastic) Processor board on it, so i guess it runs still on 68060 without MMU/FPU.

This is very good news!

I hope we get a busy summer in the development team to give you the software and drivers we need to Run the SAGA at peak performance.

Man i hope i doesn't die on you. A naked NATAMI on wood ?!?

Guess I'm damaged from my time at Ericsson and clean rooms, EPA areas and ESD-tools, chairs, floors, shoes.

Annika, the future is in your hands...

I hope Team will presume good old C= custom, and mention Annika somewhere within Natamy system Easter eggs.

How does Natami read Amiga disk using PC drive by the way? :D I thought the hardware is slightly different, or something.

HD (1.4 MB) PC drives had a higher bandwidth than the original Amiga floppy interface could handle. This is fixed in Natami.

That's why Amiga HD floppy drives were so expensive, because they were special Sony drives probably for some other purpose than PC use.
