Great!

The number of pre installed apps is growing continuously and they are excellent apps too!

It is very important, because it will give customers something to do with their new NatAmi since the very beginning!

yes I think that too. the apps are the big treasure from past so I hope there can be added a lot of. And at least some will certainly be improved and adapted to the new hardware.

a good move. real 3d which is given free for the amiga community thanks to amikit effort, i believe, is still most unique raytracing utility in his own right. i bought a copy in the 90ies and i am still using it for professional purposes from time to time, believe it or not.

My first 3D program EVAR!
I got the job interview that landed me a job in the video games industry long long ago with images rendered using the coverdisk version of Real3D!
V3.something. I think V4 was put on a later coverdisk.

One model had so many boolean ops on it that to replicate it in polygons in Lightwave many years later took over 30'000 polys.
Rendered on an A1200, 4MB fastram, FPU and a B&W telly.

I remember the creators of Real 3D being unusually free with giving away old versions of this wonderful program.

This is a good excuse to give a big THANK YOU to Olaf for trying (with much success) to build an initial software suite for Natami.
I'm surprised at how much quality software you're digging up and freeing. :D

I don't recommend you giving EA a call to inquire about DPaint...

My personal favorite 3D program for the Amiga was Eyelight's Tornado3D.  Its rendering speed was amazing, as was its interactive preview.  Unfortunately, following two fairly solid early releases the author released a third version that was both buggy and also failed to include all expected functionality.  Following an inordinate amount of bitching and moaning on the t3D mailing list, he disappeared from the Amiga scene and seemed to all the world to have abandoned both Tornado3D, as well his unreleased game authoring tool, Mage.

I believe I have located the author of Tornado 3D, Massimiliano Marras, now the proprietor of 3mdesign.  I think it would be interesting if someone from the Natami team would get in contact with him.  I'd like to know the status of the T3D sources, whether they still exist, if there were any unreleased updates, if he would be willing to release it to the community (or port it to Natami himself if not).  T3D had a particularly rigorous protection scheme involving both a dongle and also a hardware specific authorization that tied it to each individual machine.  It was a marvel of programming that few people ever got to use.

You're an amazing asset to Natami Olaf!  Keep up the great work.  By far the best 2d graphics program for the amiga (or anythin g else at the time) was Brilliance.  It truely was brilliant.  It replaced Dpaint in my workflow and helped me develope my pixel-art skills which got me a job for Gameloft years back.

I'll try and find the creators of that.  Brilliance...especially an updated one to support the new graphics modes would make me sob with joy!

@Olaf

To be honest I havent tried it yet, but will soon.  Its awesome to have a graphics program maker on the team!  I'll be sure to do whatever I can to help with suggestions and eventually maybe demo art.

I'll post again once I've had time to try it out.

thanks for the info. :)

Version 4.0?

This will be very useful. What file formats does it support? .obj, .3ds? Having a 3D modeling program would be an immense help.

I am hardly surprised.  He went from being hailed as a potential savior to being the whipping boy for everyone that couldn't accept the reality of an ever more grim situation.  (Much like a certain US president some of you may have heard of...)

Still, it's a shame that he didn't pass on the program to Discreet FX or release it into open source.  I'd almost like to think he lost the source, rather than believe he is still holding a grudge against the Amiga community.  Oh well, at least he isn't dead, as I'd assumed for a long time might be the case.

Maybe when Natami is a real product he'll reconsider.
