The littlest bugs can cause the longest finds sometimes...
Great work Thomas!
My Windows Media Player won't play the video - just the sound & Quicktime Player won't play any.  Where should I load codec from to see the video?

Gone Gahgah: The video is encoded as H.264 and the sound as MP3, it should play fine using recent versions of both players you mention. Give VLC EXTERNAL LINK a try and see if you can play the video using that player.

With all of this progress going, does that mean Natami will be released this year or it would still be a potential of five years or more before release? Thanks in advance.

I hate to flood this thread with "Great work", but here it is:

Thanks Rikard.  Don't know why my media player or quick time won't display the video... Then again I don't know why my Wintel computer won't autorun CDs from Windows just like my last AMDtel computer wouldn't either.  Must be just me!

Am impressed to see something already running on the Natami.
Awesome!

Nice result of working Giana Sisters :)

I noticed some wrong note tune in title and game music.
Perhaps the audio sample rate is not generated well. Try running Hard & Heavy or Agony or even Zero Grafity title sound. If those also produce (terrible) wrong note, the Paula HDL code need adaption in order to handle "illegal audio periode" the same way as real hardware does.

I also noticed some weird notes. Maybe some modulation issues?

And I notice some pixel aliasing issues. ;-)

But if we think about it and consider that the video is displayed on a LCD monitor with cheap speakers - and is recorded with a cheap digicam - not even a real camcorder!

Then the signal is two times converted and compressed to make a video out of it ....

Considering all this - we should really not be surprised that the video has aliasing issues and imperfect sound!

Seriously - we will re-record a video in the near future with proper equipment and convert it with proper tools again.
Then the picture and audio quality will certainly be better!

Is this ok?

Your video of Giana Sisters running on NATAMI does look nice.

But the main question that we all have is:
To which level did you come?

Finally, at least one person ask this really important question! Thank you, Gunnar :D

Hooray Thomas!!! Thank you for your wonderful work!

So which level did you reach?

Another milestone reached :o)

Video recordings of features and progress say more than 1000 words. Seeing the machine run games is certainly a good sign. Can't wait to see more advanced features added to the apparatus in the future.

Good work!

No compression should alter any sound sample pitch ;)

What ever the cause may be, it can be fixed... if necessary.

Yes, it can change the pitch. Why? If wavelets are applied, parts of the spectrum are changed in ways that the human ear cannot realize there is information missing. If applied several times, wavelets can "distort" the spectrum in ways that sound like pitch changes. So no big deal for now. If the problems persists, Thomas has got some work to do ;) .

Great work Thomas and the Team!

It's really really nice to see the video of a game running, but since I'm probably most interested in this project for the demoscene, is there any chance of seeing *any* demo/intro running at the moment?

Are you guys testing the hardware using demos aswell?
