| Wow, now this projekt is geting every time bigger steps, and bigger steps. Damn every one are a wonder. Iam dreaming now for 15 years for a new Amiga and now my dreamings come true :-) When i get or produce myself a Natami the first think that is that i have produze a demo for it :-) on pc i do that EXTERNAL LINK and i hope i could that on natami too.. | Not Redsector/Tristar...... The original Tristar EXTERNAL LINK Sorry Iam so happy first time i could programm the NATAMI in ASM. cu PS: i want to help the projekt, problem is we could only program something.

| @Jason that is a TV then, monitors have a 16:10 ratio. 16:9 is a television ratio...@Marcel Thissen/Freshman, I think programers are needed more on this project then Hardware fanatics like myself. ;)

| @Marcel samsung 2343bw. It isn't a TV. It's monitor. It is sitting in front of me plugged into my pc using DVI. ALL 2048x1152 are 16:9.They HAVE to be. Its math; the aspect ratio is based on vertical by horizontal size. Since pixels on LCDs are square, the aspect cam be caculated on overall WxH in numbers of pixels. See here: EXTERNAL LINK In any event, the Natami ought to support as many high-res montiors as possible, if for no other reason, to not obsolete itself. Anything under 1920x1080 or 1600x1050 is not going to look very good on monitors less than 2 or 3 years old. 20 to 24" monitors are between 120 and 300 US$ right now; that's what people are buying, so it's always a good idea to support the common equipment. 2048x1152 and 1920x1200 are the high end of that, but that will be common in no time.

| @Jason Please turn off autoscaling on your monitor. Then 1920x1080 will display perfectly just like it does on all other 2048x1152 monitors. I have nothing against 2048x1152 resolution. I want to support all resolutions but in the real world we don't even have a working 1920x1080 in the current Natami hardware due to the horizonatal frequency is really really high. It may not get done in Natami I, but should be easy for Natami II.

| I have a compaq 21" monitor which is supposed to have a resolution of 1920 x 1200 but the text is unreadable so I have a display resolution of 1440 x 900. I think I would need a 32" monitor to use 2048 x 1152. It is unclear at this time if Natami is fast enough to display even 1920 x 1280 so you may need to wait for Natami 3 running at say 800 mhz before you could use such a high resolution, but you will need either a magnifying glass or a bigger monitor to use it comfortably.

| I think that we could be happy that some hardware cracks create a ne Amiga that beats ever Amiga. And is 68000 compatible, its like a dream. Its Not a Computer with Nividia PciExpress 16x and 2000x3000 Pixels. I think its an Amiga with all we need with the power we ever dreamed, and if you programe it in asm it could be faster as every system (DREAM)...... CU

Personally the second I buy Natami I that is it for me. That would be the only Natami series I want to ever use (regardless of the new versions) I am just happy to replace my A1200 with it. As soon as Natami is released I am selling my Amiga 1200 so fast it is not even funny, then with that money I have done I can spend it on Natami. I can finally use OWB, watch movies, etc, etc without the restrictions of AGA!!! Also I can finally develop games without fear, tricks and hacks!!

| To answer the resolution question. Based on the clockrates that the NATAMI SAGA chipset does currently archive and on the memory performance, I'm very confident that the NATAMI will have no problem to display Full HD resolution.

| Hi Gunnar, I just am going to have a cerebral hemorrhage over the stream of GOOD NEWS that keeps coming from Team NatAmi progress!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And yes, my exclamation keyboard button is merely malfunctioning. ;-)))) ) WHO CARES if it IS slow, text in HD mode at least and still frames will be very useful nonetheless, and we DO need to appear near current, at least. Due to the low clock speed of the FPGA, I understand that not much in the way of animation will be possible, but maybe 4 colour screens will be acceptable for scrolling text. For Amiga, "a dead platform", this is a HUGE breakthrough!

What will the memory contention be like at this resolution and refresh rate? Comparable to AGA 8-plane hires? superhires?

ps/2 is a great if original Amiga keyboard works, but "mini ps/2" is not good connection in my opinion. Further USB if possible. The arabic programer keyboard (almost ASCII compatible like old ASMO449 (but venerable sticks!! see the standard!!) but mine is fully character ADDRESSABLE) : my first idea Thomas... EXTERNAL LINK Some hamza keys to quadruple instead of two and reorganize these layout but the basic of seizing arabic FOR PROGRAMERS is here !! I want a "basic cheap , Amiga programing system" and the more integrated it will be, the more I hope to make it an arabic terminal for people/programers ; to replace or change arabic typewriter. Hope the price will be smaller than a SAM ? Thomas or natami member, would you like to remember us (an explanation of) text blitting : think it is used only for "unpacking" selecting a character from a font strip, is this right ? The FPGA has no low clockspeed. The FPGA and the SUPER-AGA chipset have a higher clockspeed than many commercial PC GFX cards do have.

You need to mind that the all the part that you need to build a SAM are many times cheaper than the parts that you need to build a NATAMI. So how can you expect that the NATAMI can be a lot cheaper?

Starting a "USB stack" to retrieve keystrokes, wouldn't it be faster using the original connector, or even PS/2 to retrieve keystrokes? (And mouse input.)There must be A LOT less code in running the original keyboard than the new convoluted crap out there. I'm talking about if you start your NatAmi and do not need USB devices working, so don't start that protocol. Of course, many programs are smaller and run better on AMIGA anyway, so maybe USB is not that much CPU intensive anyhow, I have no idea about how much resources it uses.

Hi Gunnar,Yes, I did misunderstand you, as originally the thought was that the FPGA would not have enough ooomph to generate HD resolutions, and many and me were arguing, that even rudimentary output, just so that say word processing in 4 or 16 colours could be done would be nice to have. It's like if we're having the MMU or not which was discussed over the last year. There were a couple of, "it will have" then "it won't have" statements, and I think it's still "we won't have an MMU", and I'm for that. I want more CPU speed. NatAmi, FTW!!!!

Generating 1600x1200 or Full HD resolution is no problem. I even think that Opaque move will work sufficient well in this resolutions. But the NATAMI does NOT have the power to play and decode BluRays or MP4 Avis in this resolution.

| The most trivial question Gunnar von Boehn but it means a lot to me. If Natami crashes or gives software failure would the power LED flash like the original classic Amiga and would the power LED turn on/off depending on mono/stereo sound like original classic Amiga?
